My vision for Richland comes from my love for my family and a desire to help create a community my children and yours will want to come back to. I’m a third generation Tri-Citizen and my family have worked in a broad cross-section of Richland industries: PNNL, Hanford, public school teachers, medicine, service industry, churches, government, small businesses, and non-profits.

I believe in limited government that is highly participatory. Government is all of us working together for a better community. Richland highlights transparency, but unfortunately has a poor record in engaging citizens:

• committing $19 million in debt for a new city hall with minimal public input
  
• denying requests to add Public Market proposals to council agendas despite public support
  
• hiring a consultant who opposes seeking broad citizen input and who disdains the Tri-Cities in order to envision the future of Richland

We have amazing, talented, and passionate people here in Richland. We should build on the great things we have here and use local talent to do it. I believe the right kind of leadership and vision can inspire a new wave of community involvement from citizens. I believe this because I’ve been doing it for the past 10 years and have seen remarkable things happen when we seek to empower people first.

Richland can be the city that listens and proactively involves its citizens. And if are, we will be a city our children come back to.
